Safety
Pakstoor was built specifically to remove the sharp edges of private-party sales in South Africa. Here's what that means in practice.
Money held in trust
Buyers don't pay sellers directly. Funds sit with Pakstoor (in a trust account with our payment partner) until the buyer confirms the item arrived and matches the listing. Only then does the seller get paid out.
Courier only, no meetups
Every transaction ships through Pakstoor's trusted delivery partner, The Courier Guy. In-person collection is not permitted. This is the single biggest safety decision we made and it isn't negotiable.
Structured chat, no free-text
Buyer questions come from a catalogue ("Is this still available?", "How quickly can you ship?") and seller answers come from a dropdown. No phone numbers, no WhatsApp handoffs, no "meet me at the mall" — the patterns scammers rely on don't fit.
Prohibited items
We do not permit listings of firearms, alcohol, tobacco, counterfeit goods, stolen property, live animals, or anything else that can't be legally shipped by a registered SA courier. See the full list in our Terms of Service.
Report a listing
If you see a listing that looks stolen, counterfeit, or breaks any of our rules, email us at support@pakstoor.co.za with the listing URL. We investigate within one business day.
Dispute a transaction
Item didn't arrive? Arrived damaged? Isn't as described? Open the deal thread in Messages and don't mark it as received. You have 48 hours from delivery to raise a dispute; we mediate and issue refunds per the Consumer Protection Act.
What Pakstoor won't do
- We'll never email you asking for your password.
- We'll never ask you to pay a seller outside the platform.
- We'll never share your email address or phone number with a buyer or seller.
- We'll never charge a "listing fee" up-front — commissions come off the sale, not the listing.
