Pakstoor is a protected marketplace for private sellers in South Africa. Money held in trust, courier-only delivery, structured chat. No chancers.
Why we exist
Private-party sales online in South Africa are broken. Buyers lose money to EFT scams. Sellers lose items to fake delivery addresses. Honest people stop meeting strangers at the Engen. The existing platforms haven't fixed it because their incentives don't line up — they profit from listing volume, not from completed trust.
Pakstoor only makes money when a deal closes successfully. That means our incentive is the buyer and seller both walking away whole. Every product decision flows from that: funds held in trust, courier-only delivery, free-text chat replaced with a structured catalogue, commission only on successful sales.
What we stand for
- POPIA by default. Your personal information is the minimum we need. We don't sell it. We don't advertise against it.
- Safety is the product. Every feature on the roadmap is judged against whether it makes a bad actor's life harder or an honest user's life easier.
- South Africa first. Built for SA couriers, SA banking, SA law, SA language. Not a US marketplace with a rand sign.
- No chancers. We moderate hard. Listings that break the rules come down fast. Sellers who scam lose their access to pending payouts.
